Guylaine favors strength-based, culturally sensitive, client-centered, trauma-informed approaches. Models that inform her practice are psychodynamic and relational approaches, humanistic lens, Internal Family Systems, and NeuroAffective Relational Model™ (NARM). Guylaine is a bilingual and bicultural therapist who trained both in France and the USA, where she pursued studies in intercultural psychology and trauma-treatment. Guylaine is experienced in counseling clients with a wide variety of clinical presentations and cultural backgrounds, and is now accepting new adult clients for individual and relationship therapy.
Guylaine, a caring and compassionate therapist, gently leads clients to confront and challenge distressing thought patterns that keep them stuck. She often works with clients who feel disconnected from themselves and others and who wish to live with authenticity and confidence. She sees the therapeutic space as one of acceptance, where clients find care and room for self-affirmation. Together, Guylaine and her clients explore perspectives and strategies to improve their lives and relationships. She sees her role as collaborator and ally, whose interventions are guided by the clients’ readiness and progress toward meaningful goals authentic to the clients, their values, unique experiences and aspirations.
Guylaine sees therapy as a creative process, where alternate ways of being within a relationship are explored and leveraged for growth. The therapeutic process supports healthy change in clients’ disposition (away from rigidity and defensiveness), and invites flexibility, openness, and playfulness back into their lives. For her, therapeutic work is not only personal, but also relational and social in nature, and she sees that the beneficial effects ripple beyond the therapy room, into the clients’ relationships with others, family, and communities.
Guylaine is passionate about her work. But outside of sessions, Guylaine enjoys spending time with her family, cats, and friends, gardening, and creating.
