She describes her approach as collaborative in a way where she works with the client to identify their strengths and needs, and create treatment goals to help the client get to where they are going.  When coming to therapy one can expect a safe and non-judgmental environment where they can freely explore any difficult thoughts or feelings.  

Laura Behlke has experience working with issues such anxiety, depression, various mood disorders, traumas, life transitions, and interpersonal relationships.  Her approach is generally Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but will work with the client to find what is the best fit to meet their unique needs and to develop healthy coping mechanisms.

When it comes to her view of therapeutic change, she explores how people’s past life may be impacting their present. By building insight into beliefs, behavioral patterns, and emotional reactions, she hopes to help people understand how their life story may be unhelpfully impacting their current relationships, adaptations to stressful events, and self-confidence. When working with kids, Laura collaborates with schools and parents to provide comprehensive treatment. One-on-one with kids, she uses a blend of non-directive and directive techniques. This means that she will use both play and structured activities to help kids learn a variety of concepts related to emotional intelligence.
