Shannon’s approach to therapy is genuine, unassuming, and down-to-earth, with the intention of fostering a trusting, open, and reflective environment. Shannon sees mental health as a key element to nurture throughout our lives and believes that everyone deserves to be seen, understood, and provided room to heal and grow. She feels strongly that it is an honor to work with folks as they gain comfortability exploring all parts of themselves and as they move through every stage of their unique growth journey.

Shannon is a professional social worker of nearly a decade, holding a Masters Degree in Social Work as well as a Masters Degree in Community Development. Much of her experience prior to private practice has been in the non-profit sector, working within refugee and immigrant communities. This developed a deep passion for supporting individuals, families, and communities towards their personal goals, healing, and the ability to thrive despite difficult circumstances. Shannon continues to identify with the strong therapeutic values of equity, compassion, authenticity, cultural humility, empathy, empowerment, and community.

The approach that Shannon takes to therapy is founded in relationality and presence. Developing strong and trusting rapport is crucial to her work with clients, as from here transparency, vulnerability, and growth is possible. The therapeutic space becomes a place where clients can explore whatever is in front of their mind – from doubts and fears, to hopes and dreams, or questions they may not feel comfortable addressing otherwise. She presents as fully herself and invites others to do the same. Shannon utilizes tools from various modalities to meet the unique needs of the individual in front of her, including Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Theory, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Somatic practices. Her approach truly seeks to meet each client where they are at.

Shannon specializes in working with folks experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, religious trauma, questions of identity/identity formation, grief and loss, cultural adjustment communities and relationships, and family stressors. She also speaks Spanish and conversational Swahili.
