About Me

Bria approaches mental health with a deep understanding of individual uniqueness and self-value, eschewing the pursuit of perfection. Transitioning from a budding psychological researcher to a therapist, her personal experiences with burnout and imposter syndrome redirected her focus towards empowering marginalized communities. Bria utilizes a blend of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, and Psychodynamic approaches, with a focus on BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ clients, to foster resilience and self-understanding in the face of daily challenges and life transitions.

Everyone has different goals when going into therapy. Bria is aware of how intimidating it can be to have another person walk along with you on your wellness journey. Her goal is not to judge, but to highlight the steps you’ve taken forward and reflect on the plateaus and steep hills that have entered your path. Bria believes it is her job to encourage clients through the process of understanding themselves and making choices aligned with what they want their life to look like.

Bria has always had an interest in social justice. Originally studying to be a psychological researcher, Bria started an undergraduate project that analyzed racial biases amongst young adults. After concluding the study, however, Bria felt discouraged thinking of the ongoing challenges of people of color within predominantly white institutions. She also experienced major burnout and imposter syndrome, which led her to see an on-campus therapist. This time of self-reflection changed her perspective on how she can support her communities within the realm of mental health.

Now as a therapist, Bria has gained ample experience in college and private practice settings, helping BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals empower themselves while managing academic and career challenges. In her work with adults, young adults, and teens, Bria leads with a Strengths-Based approach, helping her clients identify and build on the qualities that are most meaningful to them. She utilizes Psychodynamic and Attachment theories to help clients process the relationships that have had the most impact on them and their journeys. Bria also utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy techniques to help clients develop healthy coping skills for dealing with stress, conflict, and anxiety symptoms. Bria is passionate about helping her clients feel affirmed and proud of their identities as they navigate their environments.

Bria’s approach to therapy is grounded in building a strong therapeutic relationship. She wants to get to know clients as individuals and provide a judgment-free space to show up authentically. She welcomes therapy beginners and encourages all her clients to speak their truth when they have not been able to. She wants to work with clients to get to the root of their behaviors and understand not only what holds them back but what guides them forward. Bria is happy to walk on the same path as her clients toward a better tomorrow.
